Uncommon Reads and Arts Application
The UF Honors Program invites proposals for one-credit courses which tackle one book or artistic performance / exhibit in-depth in a discussion format. Uncommon Reads books may be from any genre — literary classics, contemporary works, nonfiction, graphic novels, etc. Previous Uncommon Arts courses have focused on exhibits at the Harn Museum of Art, performances at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, etc. Classes are typically capped at 15 honors students.

Please submit proposals describing your course along with student assignments and expectations. These courses will meet one day per week for one period, so please keep that in mind as you decide on the output you expect from students. With input from students and faculty, the UF Honors Program will select up to fifty courses for a semester.

The Honors Program cannot offer an additional salary for faculty who wish to teach such a course, but we will offer $1000 in professional development funds (to be used for travel, etc.) to those faculty whose courses are selected. You must request those funds by the published semester deadline - more information will be forthcoming to selected instructors.

Please submit proposals to the UF Honors Program Director using the form below.
