HEA is looking for members to join our committees for the 2024-2025 school year. We NEED members who want to be active but may not have found something that fits their skills or interests before now. We NEED your experience and expertise to help guide the future work of HEA. Read the descriptions below, then fill out the form for the committee that interests you the most. Only those committees who are designed to include members are listed.
Community Outreach - Plans and implements events related to community relations. In the past, these have included our food drives, book drives, food pantry work and more.
Jillian Kalb (chair)Elections - Organizes and implements all elections associated with HEA... OEA and NEA delegates, HEA officers, contract ratification, etc.
Kyleen Calabrese (chair)
Human and Civil Rights - organizes professional development for educators on DEI topics; recommends necessary contract language; works on peer mediation language and processes. Jennifer Cooper and Lane Vanderhule (chairs)
Legislative - Monitors proposed bills at Ohio and national level, elections/ races, and lobbying opportunities. Shares information with exec and rep council. Organizes OEA Fund drives. Brittany Alexander (chair)
New Member Development - Organizes the HEA buddy program which connects an experienced educator willing to support/ assist to those newer to the profession as they adjust to Hilliard and learn about HEA. Also plans new hire social event in the summer and the luncheon at the end of Induction. NOT the same as the RESA Mentor Program. Alli Palguta (chair)
Organizing - Plans and implements strategies to educate and involve more HEA members in the work of HEA. It also finds ways to support other committees in their goal of reaching out to members and the community. Allison Ellis (chair)
Social - Plans and organizes HEA sponsored events like HEA socials, the new teacher luncheon, member appreciation, Friend of Education celebrations and the retirement celebration.
Tonya Miller Thomas (chair)
Tutor - Meets with administration to find solutions for issues related to tutors including accurate job descriptions, tutor training and supporting administrators in understanding/following contract language. Diane Paice (chair)
