Criteria for receiving the Exemplary College/University String Professor Award are:

Support of the public school system – evidence of providing mentorship to public school teachers and students.

Evidence of outstanding student achievement – student recital documentation and evidence of students receiving teaching or performance assignments upon completion of their degree.

Evidence that the professor can work with students at varying levels.

Evidence of Maintaining and Increasing numbers in the private studio.

Evidence of professional development 

Leadership in the profession - Holding an office in a professional organization, district committees for music or teachers. Present at state or national convention.
