Applying for a bursary

Please note, we have updated the fee structure as follows on the basis of fairness and accessibility.

There is a limited fund to provide a bursary of up to €300 per person/presentation. This fund is reserved for those who do not have access to institutional or private funding, and whom will be financially affected by attending, in order to help the most number of people attend the symposium. The bursary will be negotiated on a needs-based basis.

Eligible expenses include: compensation for time spent preparing an input presentation, travel costs, transport of materials, childcare, rent at home. DEADLINE: 20th January 2023

If you would like to request for a bursary of up to €300 please provide information of what expense(s) you would like the bursary to help cover.
Accommodation The amount of accommodation we can offer is limited. Therefore we'd like to ask if you require accommodation? Or if have accommodation in Brussels, for example, friends you can stay with while you are here?

Open Call for presentations.

This next part of the application form deals with proposals for presentations, e.g. performances and talks. DEADLINE: 20th January 2023 We seek proposals for short pre-existing talks and works that, directly or tangentially address emergence and goal-directedness. Selected works will be shown in the evening ‘inputs’ programme of ‘input’ performances, interactive performances, talks, performance lectures and/or film screenings.  Please note:

The general open call for the overall symposium is not a traditional ‘call for papers’ format. It is possible, indeed encouraged to simply turn-up, i.e. to join the symposium without a pre-formed, concrete, idea in mind of what you would like to present, or develop with others during the symposium. The process of the symposium allows for such ideas to emerge by responding to, and supporting, each other's ideas in the context the symposium. Therefore you are not required to complete the information below in order to join the symposium.

Due to the format of the symposium, a significant amount of time will be given to collectively ‘allowing emergence to happen’, there will not be space for everyone to make a solo ‘input’ presentation. We will make the selection based on curating a range of inputs that will be useful to everyone and the overall process.

We encourage everyone to share ideas at this stage. Even though not every work can be presented due to time constraints, it’s none-the-less very welcome in getting to know your ideas, as well as helpful to have some ideas up our ‘collective sleeve’.
Lastly, please be willing to let your ideas go, to joining in with other’s ideas, and to letting new ideas emerge during the symposium.
