This awesome Saturday theater experience offers 4th thru 8th graders the opportunity to work, rehearse and create together as a performance ensemble. Performers will meet each Saturday, and five Wednesday evenings for some, to explore the many facets of theater—acting, music, dance and theater production—as they prepare for a musical performance on the Main Stage at the Villagers. Students will study proper stage etiquette, technique and develop a basic understanding of theater as a creative collaboration both on stage and behind the scenes.

The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, The Wedding Singer's sparkling new score does for the '80s what Hairspray did for the '60s. Just say yes to the most romantic musical in twenty years.

It's 1985, and rock star wannabe, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

Past productions include: OZ!, A Christmas Carol, Grease: School Edition, ABC’s of Broadway: A Musical Revue, Cinderella, Bye Bye Birdie Jr.,Once On This Island Jr., Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Beauty and the Beast, Guys and Dolls, Seussical the Musical Jr, All Shook Up, Annie, Footloose, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Shrek: The Musical, High School Musical 2, Hairspray, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins Jr., School of Rock Youth Production, Anything Goes, Legally Blonde The Musical Jr., Elf the Musical Jr., 13 the Musical, Disney's Newsies and Matilda: The Musical!

Over the course of the 11-week program, students gain an understanding of this creative art form and develop a strong sense of appreciation for all aspects of musical theater while rehearsing for the production. The program allows the cast members to work and create a ensemble performance while experiencing a realistic community theater experience not offered by many venues.

There is a required attendance policy which applies to all cast members. The production is huge undertaking with a short rehearsal process and a strong commitment is required. Cast members are required to offer all conflicts ASAP for scheduling purposes..  If you have any questions regarding the policy, please contact the Executive Producer at the email below.  The attendance policy is as follows:
