SUYTI 2021 Nomination Form
Do you have an amazing young person in your congregation you would like to nominate for our summer 2021 Youth Theology Institute? Submit this form and we will contact your nominated youth with an invitation to apply. You may nominate as many youth as you would like, but please fill out a form for each student separately.

Our 2021 youth institute will run July 18 - 31, 2021. During our 14 day institute, framed by the overarching vision of God's good creation expressed from Genesis to Revelation, students will enter into an intentional daily rhythm marked by worship, prayer, academic exploration, interfaith experience, and service learning. Students will be challenged to become increasingly aware of the intersection of their identity as a beloved child of God and the call God has put on their life to work for justice in God's world. Upon completion, students will earn 3 undergraduate credits from Shenandoah University in the area of exploring Christian Vocation in the 21st Century.

Because of a generous grant offered by the Lilly Endowment, the cost of the 2021 Institute is significantly subsided; students will only be responsible for $200 in 2020. This includes all meals, housing, supervision, academic instruction, and transportation during the duration of the Institute as well as the cost of 3 undergraduate credits at Shenandoah University.  In addition to the $200 program fee, students will also be responsible for travel to and from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA (or a DC-area airport (IAD preferred) or transport hub, such as Union Station, if driving to Winchester would be a barrier for your student/your student's family) at the beginning and end of the institute. We strongly recommend that the sending faith community work with families to cover these costs.

Requirements for nomination for students: must currently be a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior in high school; must display curiosity and passion; must identify as Christian and be connected to a faith community. Students must be available to attend the full duration of the youth institute and willing to complete a pre and post assignment to complete their college credits.

In addition to the requirements we ask of youth participants, we also require participation from their sending faith community in the form of active support for your student as they prepare for the YTI, and to support them (as the leader God has called them to be) as they complete a required project in their faith community following the YTI.
