At 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, join the Center for International Security Studies' Policy Speakers Series  for our next event "A year on: European security amidst Russia's war in Ukraine," with Dr. Fiona Hill, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, moderated by Sam Harshbarger '24.   

Approaching a year after Russia's commencement of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the security and future of Ukraine and Europe more broadly still hang in the balance. Dr. Hill will be speaking on Zoom on current developments in European security and Russia's war in Ukraine as well as her career trajectory and her book, "There Is Nothing For You Here: Finding Opportunity in the 21st Century" (2021). This event is co-sponsored by the Center for International Security Studies’ Policy Speakers Series and the Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination.   

Dr. Hill is a senior fellow in the Center on the United States and Europe in the Foreign Policy program at Brookings. In November 2022, Hill was appointed chancellor of Durham University, U.K., a high-profile ceremonial and ambassadorial role. She recently served as deputy assistant to the president and senior director for European and Russian affairs on the National Security Council from 2017 to 2019. From 2006 to 2009, she served as national intelligence officer for Russia and Eurasia at The National Intelligence Council. She is author of the aforementioned “There Is Nothing for You Here” and co-author of “Mr. Putin: Operative in the Kremlin” (2015).
