Mental Health First
MH First Sacramento, a project of Anti Police-Terror Project, is a cutting-edge new model for non-police response to mental health crisis. The goal of MH First is to respond to mental health crises including, but not limited to, psychiatric emergencies, substance use support, and domestic violence safety planning.

Our purpose is to interrupt and eliminate the need for law enforcement in mental health crisis first response by providing mobile peer support, de-escalation assistance, and non-punitive and life-affirming interventions, therefore decriminalizing emotional and psychological crises and decreasing the stigma around mental health, substance use, and domestic violence, while also addressing their root causes: white supremacy, capitalism, and colonialism.

About APTP:
The Anti Police-Terror Project is a Black-led, multi-racial, intergenerational coalition that seeks to build a replicable and sustainable model to eradicate police terror in communities of color. We support families surviving police terror in their fight for justice, documenting police abuses and connecting impacted families and community members with resources, legal referrals, and opportunities for healing. APTP began as a project of the ONYX Organizing Committee.

The mission of APTP is to eradicate state terror in communities of color. We do this work through organizing, policy, family support and developing small replicable models of community response to community crisis.

Please Note: By submitting an interest form, you agree to receive general news and updates from APTP. Committees and working groups may require additional vetting or conditions before you are invited to participate in our meetings.

APTP COVID Protocol
To ensure the safety and health of all our participants, we are asking that folks complete a rapid test either before arriving or upon arrival at the venue.  If you opt to take a test at the venue, one will be provided for you free of charge.

For folks taking a rapid test before arriving: please have a time-stamped photo OR the test itself to show the door person as you enter.

For folks taking a rapid test upon arrival:
  1. Arrive up to 30 mins in advance (doors will open an hour ahead of time for folks to mingle).
  2. Please wear a mask or pick up a KN95 mask available at the entrance.
  3. At the entrance, pick up a rapid test kit and follow the instructions inside the box.
  4. Record the time when you completed the test. Write your name and the time in one of the open boxes of our Test-Tracking Sheet and place your test next to it.
  5. Wait at least 15mins outside the entrance or inside the building hallway (with your mask on). After a negative test result, you'll be welcome to enter and mingle inside the full space!
