Thank you for your interest in teaching with Madison School & Community Recreation.
While a strong interest in teaching is an absolute “must,” we’re also looking for instructors who have a deep and demonstrated background in the field in which they are looking to teach. Previous teaching experience is highly recommended but not required.

Ideally, we are looking for course proposals that meet the following criteria: topics have broad appeal; classes can accommodate diverse groups of people; and the instructor is willing to teach the course at least a total of three times.

All MSCR instructors are hired as employees of the Madison Metro School District.  All employees are paid an hourly rate starting between $15-20/hour.  All supplies are provided by MSCR.  MSCR does not hire outside businesses as contractors to provide classes.  

All instructors are required to complete a background check with fingerprints and a TB test prior to beginning employment.  These are conducted in our main office free of charge.  

We accept proposals on an ongoing basis and develop schedules 3 times/year. Submitting a proposal does not guarantee we will offer your class. Final decisions are based on interest, viability, facility availability and other factors.
