Water@UW-Madison will be seeking mentors for the 2026 Freshwater@UW Summer Research Opportunities Program. We hope to recruit a broad range of students for immersive mentored water research experiences located at any of the 13 UW System Institutions or affiliated research sites.

Students will be on site from early June to early August. Freshwater@UW will provide participant support in the amount of $6K, housing costs, segregated fees, and $600 toward food.

The student application portal opens each year on Nov. 1 and closes in mid-Feb., after which applications will be reviewed and students matched according to their research skills and interests. Due to funding limitations, not all projects will be matched with a student. Some funding sources require faculty or PI status at a UW System Institution.
