NEXT regrets to inform you that our affiliate partner Oklahoma Harm Reduction Alliance is unable to maintain the harm reduction mailing program due to staffing and funding shortages. Unfortunately, NEXT does not have adequate funding to operate this program without a funded affiliate partner in the state of Oklahoma.

What this means for you:

The monthly packages you have been receiving will unfortunately be paused until further notice.
As we work on finding a long term solution, we would like to offer you a final package at this time including a bulk amount of supplies. Please note that it may take up to one week for your final package to be shipped.

We recognize that you may rely on these packages and are working towards a solution with the goal of resuming monthly service, however it is unlikely that this program will resume in the near future. We sincerely apologize for the impact this may have.

Additional Safer Use Supplies

Alcohol Pads

Alcohol pads are used to clean an injection site prior to injection to remove bacteria and germs that could be pushed into the skin during the injection process. Do not use an alcohol pad post-injection, it will prevent blood from clotting.

BZK Towelettes

BZK is short for benzalkonium chloride, an antiseptic for cleaning hands and other body parts when soap and water is not available.

Cottons

Cottons are used to filter impurities in the drug mix when pulling it into the syringe. Best practice is to use one new/clean cotton each time.

Cookers

Cookers come in a bag of 10.

Tourniquets

A tourniquet will restrict blood flow and cause the vein to bulge, making it more accessible for injection.

Fentanyl Test Strips

Fentanyl test strips can be used to test drugs for trace amounts of fentanyl.
1 red line = positive, 2 red lines = negative.

Wound Care

Antibiotic Ointment

Packet of antibiotic ointment for small wounds. Antibiotic ointment is topical and cannot be used as a primary form of wound care.

Adhesive Bandages

Overdose Prevention

Intramuscular (IM) Naloxone Kit

Injectable solution used for reversing an opioid overdose. 1 kit includes 2 doses.

Since you last received a package from NEXT, have you used naloxone/Narcan in an overdose incident? If so, please tell us about the incident(s) below.

Details such as the age, gender, and race/ethnicity of the person or people that overdosed is helpful for our program, but not required.
