We hold space for people of all identities and backgrounds, and respect identity-based affinity groups as may be offered in the workshop. We realize this is hard work and it may ask us to change deeply held patterns. We create and uphold a consent-based dance culture respecting that every person has the right to choose when and how they interact with others, all the time. We recognize that identity, background, and experience-level can create complex power dynamics that change whether individuals feel empowered to say “no” to interactions, including touch and dances, flirtation, and sexual advances.
