The New York State School-Age Care Credential was developed to promote quality services to children and families through specific standards, training, and evaluation of school-age staff members and care providers.
We will assist you in getting fully set-up.
1. You must attend all classes in Parts I (30 Hours) & II (Additional 36 Hours).
Classes will take place once a week, for weeks Part I and Part II.
2. Portfolio and Resource File: Microsoft Teams or Zoom is the main platform for communication.
3. Advisor Visits:
All Students MUST have an Advisor (Go over this with whomever is paying for your training)
We can assist in finding you one. (Advisors are paid by student or School, Advisors are Independent Contractors)
Required in your application to the Credential are 3 in-person advisor visits. You are eligible to receive assistance from an advisor once you complete 22 portfolio entries.
You must select an advisor before beginning Part II of the Credential prep course and it must be within a year from the class start date.
An Advisor must be paid by student/school, (a cost of about $500) to help them prepare for their New York State SAC endorser visit by the NYS Network for Youth Success, the official state affiliate of the National After-School Association. You/or your school are responsible for paying for an Advisor.
4. To get the SAC Credential, you must apply for it.
You will send your application for endorsement to the New York State Network for Youth Success. We provide the Success Center as an optional resource to you for preparing your written application. The Network accepts applications for endorsement on a rolling basis and has two deadlines every year: May 1st and November 1st.
The cost of this class is $1300.00 per Semester
