UK-JP is a student organisation that was founded in 2016 to foster intercultural dialogue between Japan and the UK. From seeking “work-life balance” or “quiet quitting” in workplaces, student mental health issues to insufficient mental health support in public healthcare, these phenomena highlight society's continuous failure to address emerging concerns about well-being. Studies have also revealed an increase in loneliness amongst youths, and a rising number of “Deaths of Despair” as countries grow and develop. An emerging yet neglected topic in both the UK and Japan, well-being is still poorly understood as research remains limited under the societal stigmatisation of mental health. Thus, 2024's Conference, “Well-being,” aims to gather professionals from various fields to thoroughly understand well-being from multiple perspectives.Application Process:The UK-JP 2024 Conference will be held from August 19th–27th, 2024, in-person in London. Participation fee covers food, accommodation, and transportation during the Conference period.
The fee does NOT include travel to London for the Conference, e.g. flights or trains. You must make your own arrangements to arrive in London, using your own financial resources.
If your application is successful, you will be asked to participate in a short, formal interview. Should you pass this interview, you will also participate in 2 online preliminary study sessions in July and August, dates to be confirmed (study sessions are not assessed).

Eligibility:
Any undergraduate or postgraduate student currently studying at a UK or Japanese university. Available to attend the conference for the whole conference period in-person in London, UK.
