The Republic of Korea (hereafter Korea) announced its own Indo-Pacific Strategy, “The Strategy for a Free, Peaceful and Prosperous Indo-Pacific Region” in December 2022. The strategy is Seoul’s own comprehensive regional strategy aiming at expanding Korea’s regional role and engagement, thereby contributing to bolstering rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific. In this presentation, the speaker will share his perspective about the backgrounds and motivating factors, as well as key goals and priorities, of Korea’s Indo-Pacific vision under President Yoon Suk-Yeol.
