Request for LCC HS "Teaching & Learning" student in your classroom
Dear EUSD Elementary Teachers!
Are you interested in having a Teaching & Learning high school "intern" in your classroom? Below is what they are expected to do for their grade in this class:
On a daily basis, students should be interacting with the elementary kids and learning how to guide, lead, and support them. Their interaction with the kids should take priority over grading, bulletin boards, copies, etc., although helping you with those things is acceptable but should be limited. During wheel, recess, or lunch they should either be with the kids (preferable) or helping you. (It's not a study time for them and they can't leave early.) Think of their time as 60-80% kids, 20-40% other.
The following activities and experiences for the HS students are encouraged:
- leading classroom activities
- helping prepare and deliver lessons (at least 2 will be required)
- working one-on-one with students
- prepping for projects
- reading out loud to the class
- accompanying elementary students to wheel classes, recess, etc.
- other experiences you feel would make sense in your classroom with your students and benefit your HS intern
Each student will have had a TB test and other permissions submitted and cleared on our end. And each student will email you a short bio of themselves so you know a bit about them before they arrive. (Please check your spam folder as their personal email addresses often get routed there.)
I'm hoping to get students into your classrooms as early as Wednesday, Sept. 11.
If you're interested, please fill in the form below and I'll contact you if we have a student to partner with you!
Thank you in advance and I look forward to this exciting joined endeavor!
