In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations, Phillips Brooks House Association, Ethnicity, Migration, & Rights, the Department of Romance Languages, and Fuerza Latina invite you to a documentary screening of "Latino Pioneers in Boston," a fireside conversation with documentary maker Blanca Bonillo and Latino Pioneers: Tony Molina, Jaime Rodriguez, Carmen Paola, Frieda Garcia, and Regla Gonzalez. There will also be a reception afterwards for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members to socialize and eat delicious food. We look forward to seeing you on October 6 at 6 PM! Bring your friends!
Here is a brief description of the film:
A tribute to the unheard voices of the Hispanic community who with “mucho sudor (lots of sweat)" paved the way for the next generations, Latino Pioneers in Boston uses film, print, and exhibition to follow the journeys of eight leaders: Antonio Molina, Alfredo de Jesus, Maria Sanchez, Carmen Pola, Alberto Vassallo, Frieda Garcia, Jaime Rodriguez, and Regla Gonzalez. Curated by local producer and director Blanca E. Bonilla and guided by Boston-based sociologist Miren Uriarte, these unique stories of resilience, strength, and accomplishments contour the migration of Latinos to Massachusetts and their contributions to Boston.
