Courageous people and communities around the world are fighting to make rights and justice universally possible. But they face attacks and reprisals from powerful vested interests. The constant threat of physical, digital or psychological harm places advocates and activists at great risk of burnout, stress, and trauma. The impacts transcend our work, rippling out to create fear and anxiety in our daily lives, for our families, and within our communities.
In this first webinar, we will introduce the concepts of stress, stressors and coping strategies and engage in a dialog to improve your ability to identify your own stress signs, the factors that generate stress in yourself and how you can cope with them.
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Identify individual stress signals
- Identify individual stressors
- Identify two individual coping strategies
At Open Briefing we
understand the stressors and risks unique to our sector. Our team of psychologists, counsellors, and coaches all have backgrounds in human rights movements or humanitarian action. They are multilingual and culturally sensitive, and are either based in or have extensive field experience across the global south.
