Curatorial Traineeship @ OUTPUT gallery
We are excited to offer a way into the art world through our new paid Curatorial Traineeship here at OUTPUT gallery. OUTPUT works exclusively with creatives from or based in Merseyside, and through a busy and free programme of exhibitions and events, we hope to encourage the development, mobility and strength of the local art scene.
We are offering this Curatorial Traineeship in order to train a local individual who is curious about working in the arts but might not have found any paid or structured opportunities to learn what is involved in putting on an exhibition or running a gallery. The successful candidate will receive £400 for 8 half days where you could:
- learn about funding applications, programming and budgeting
- assist in curating, installing and documenting an exhibition
- liaise with artists to plan upcoming shows
- learn about press releases and marketing
- lead on an Art Social and Group Crit
OUTPUT’s programme for 2019 runs from April to November, so the 8 half days can be flexible according to your schedule (we can accommodate for evenings and weekends). We can also alter what you learn from this traineeship depending on your interests or what you think would be most useful for you going forward.
We are keen that this position goes to somebody who is serious about a career in the arts, curious, organised, willing to learn, and who practices inclusivity. We would hope the candidate has a good knowledge of OUTPUT’s activities so far.
The art world, as with the rest of the world, can exclude marginalised identities but we would like to invite applications from anyone who thinks a Curatorial Traineeship could kickstart their career.
In terms of accessibility, OUTPUT is up four steps and we have a wheelchair channel ramp available. The bathrooms, which we share with the Kazimier Gardens next door, are not wheelchair accessible but we have an agreement with the Premier Inn nearby for use of theirs. The £400 we have secured is a fixed fee and unfortunately we cannot afford to pay for a PA, our apologies. Please bear these points in mind when applying and get in touch on
output@thekazimier.co.uk if you have any questions or concerns surrounding accessibility requirements for this role.
To apply, please fill in this google form. Deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday 28 April. We will be in touch with applicants April 30, and interviews will take place over May 6-9.
