Join us with artists Richard Penn and Carla Ruka as they discuss the fertile grounds of collaborative art making!

Richard is curating an exhibition of collaborative artworks with Auckland Studio Potters here at Depot Artspace in October, and in this talk he will speak about and show examples of his own collaborative experiences and how they have affected his artistic practice. He will also speak about the upcoming exhibition which is called X>1, and the various ways that artists, weaver, writers, dancers, sound artists, painters etc can get involved.
Carla Ruka will speak about her involvement with a community collaboration project called The Soup Bowl Project that she attended in Tillamook, Oregon. Auckland Studio Potters is using this project as inspiration for their own Soup-er Bowl Project to raise funds for cyclone relief here in Aotearoa.
Richard is a practicing artist who was awarded the Premier Ceramics Award at Portage 2023.
Carla Ruka is a ceramic artist and creative business owner. She is the Principal Cultural Advisor of Te Tuhi Art Gallery, an active member of Ngā Kaihanga Uku - Māori Clay Artists Collective and a committee member of Auckland Studio Potters.
