Purpose: This scholarship is offered to encourage participation in the field of forestry, agriculture, or related fields of study or trade. Funds for this scholarship include donations in memory and in honor of Bruce Dunn, a natural resource leader in Wallowa County, forester for RY Timber, and a longtime chairman of Wallowa County's Natural Resource Advisory Committee.

Eligibility:

To be considered, a student must be either enrolled in a school of agriculture, school of forestry, or other natural resource related area of study beyond the high school level, or declaring a major in a natural resource field as a high school graduate.
Applicants should be residents of Wallowa County and should have graduated from a high school in Wallowa county. Preference will be given to applicants seriously contemplating a return to eastern Oregon to work and live.
Graduating high school seniors and students presently enrolled in post high school programs are eligible for consideration.

Selection Criteria:

Applicant must have demonstrated qualities of scholarship and leadership in school and community.
Applicants must complete an interview with the Bruce Dunn Scholarship Committee, via online video conference or in-person.
Two (2) letters of recommendation, one from a present or former employer is required. It is preferred that letters not be from relatives of the applicant.
Financial need may be considered, but is not a selection criteria.
An official copy of the applicant's present school transcripts must be included for review.
The scholarship will apply to: (a) an accredited 4-year college with a plan for a 4-year degree program or graduate program, or- (b) an accredited program at a community college, business school, or- (c) an alternative program which meets scholarship committee approval.
Applicant will supply a copy of their post secondary school acceptance letter(s) or a copy of present college transcripts to provide proof of college enrollment.

Application Process:

Complete the scholarship application form and return it with sealed letters of recommendation, proof of post high school program enrollment and a copy of present school transcripts to the following address, no later than May 1, 2023.
