Community Marathons Chair 2022
Dance Marathon at FSU is seeking a Community Marathons Chair who will work with the Finance Director on establishing new High School, Middle School, and the local Tallahassee area Dance Marathon programs and expanding upon programs we currently have. They will work closely with the executive boards of each marathon event that is hosted, to create an experience modeling a collegiate level marathon. This entails running the marathons and all fundraising efforts preceding them. The Community Marathons Chair will work together with their coordinators and captains that are each responsible for specific programs in the surrounding area.
Responsibilities:
Establish communication methods between all high school programs, middle schools, and local community events.
Have weekly/biweekly meetings with each program.
Serve as their number one steward throughout the year.
Ensure and strengthen the relationship between DM at FSU and each program.
Provide leadership training for each high school program.
Be innovative in ways to encourage and retain involvement in High School DMs.
Innovate ways to immerse DM at FSU into each high school's community.
Bring new and innovative ways to engage participants and create new fundraising initiatives for engagement all year long.
Acquire new programs and improve on the ones we already have.
Requirements and Skills:
Must be a full-time student at Florida State University with a GPA of 2.5 or above.
Must not be studying abroad during Fall or Spring semesters.
Must be able to commit to this role through the entire year, including summer, fall, and spring until the next marathon ends.
Must not hold any major leadership positions in other organizations.
Willingness to learn how to use the online donation platform that DM utilizes to track each program's fundraising progress.
Must maintain open communication with all programs.
Transparent with decision making and open to feedback.
Not afraid to speak in front of large crowds.
Must be great at time-management and multi-tasking.
