Mental Health Therapist application form

Our Mission

Let’s face it, the VA can leave more than a little to be desired when it comes to caring for veterans' mental health and most civilian clinicians don’t understand the unique needs and culture of the military.

At Symmetry of Self Counseling Center, we believe the answer lies in more clinicians who are also military veterans working in the private sector. We believe that veteran clinicians in private practice who are passionate about helping their fellow military brothers and sisters with their mental health needs can offer a level of support, understanding, and privacy that few can match. Who better to support these men and women than those who have come before?

With a holistic approach geared toward both the client AND the clinician, Symmetry offers clients and post-grad clinicians an environment that supports the mind-body connection through evidence-based interventions and benefits.

Symmetry’s core values (Creativity, Camaraderie, Compassion, and Commitment) are not just what we expect to serve our clients, but also what we bring to our staff.

Our Ideal Clinician

Symmetry is looking for military veterans with an active New Jersey license (LAC, LSW, LPC, LCSW, LMFT) looking to work with other veterans in various aspects of mental health (trauma, grief, transition, etc.).

We are looking for someone with a passion for working with veterans in a creative and down-to-earth way; someone who is interested in developing their skill set and learning different approaches for holistic wellness with emphasis on rapport building and camaraderie. We are seeking candidates with a work ethic centered on integrity, accountability and dedication; someone who is able to take direction and feedback well and is organized and able to take initiative.

Candidates would work in a hybrid structure: two days in the office and two days remotely with room to expand. It is important to us that candidates can commit to a schedule of at least 20 individual client hours per week. Groups/workshops are also a possibility to facilitate on premises.

We will be offering free supervision towards full licensure (for the provisionally licensed counselors) and/or guidance in modalities such as IFS, EMDR, grief counseling, etc. We will also provide sick time, one week of paid vacation, educational/training stipends to enhance your clinical skill set, and wellness benefits to promote a healthy work-life balance to all of our full time employees (20+ client hours per week). Employees are required to work for 90 days to be eligible for vacation pay and education and wellness benefits.

Our pay scale varies depending on license and experience but at a flat rate (not a percentage). We believe this gives employees peace of mind that their paycheck will be as consistent as their schedule with no surprises.
Employees are paid on a biweekly frequency via direct deposit.

If you’re interested in joining The Squad, and you like the idea of learning and growing in a highly organized, detail-oriented, education-focused, and wellness-committed environment with a supervisor who leads from the front, get that resume ready and apply now!
