BAND

Band class offers instruction in flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, and trombone. Unfortunately, Pearl does not have instruments to rent or lend to students. All instruments are the responsibility of the student. Instruments can be rented or purchased from any store carrying musical instruments.

Students who join Band should have an instrument by the second week of school. They will also need to purchase the band text book, FIRST DIVISION BAND METHOD by Fred Weber. Books can be ordered through the school office for $10.00. Although final book orders are due Friday, August 26th, please submit this form by August 16th so we can start planning. Each band member is expected to practice their instrument at least 15 minutes, four times a week at home and practice time is part of their grade in the class. If they are unwilling to do this required practice at home, then they should not enroll in Band class.

RECORDERS

Students who decide to join the Pearl Recorders will need to pay a $15.00 Music Fee that is used to buy their recorder and book. Recorders and books must be ordered through Pearl to insure uniformity. The $15 fee is due each year even if the student has taken recorders in the past. A different book is ordered each year and a new fresh recorder is imperative.  

INTRODUCTION WEEK

4th, 5th and 6th graders will be introduced to various band instruments mentioned above in class to help them understand which instrument may be preferred. By August 26th all students need to make a final decision between Band or Recorders.
