ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
What: Ecopoetry Workshop
When: 6-20 July 2020
Where: Sottochiesa, Taleggio Valley, Lombardy, Italy.
Application Deadline: 1st March, 2019
This workshop is for 10-12 writers, artists and/or thinkers working in, or interested in working in, the field of ecopoetics to come together and collaborate on projects that engage directly or indirectly with the workshop theme: Animals. Ecopoetry Workshop is a derivative of the longer-running eco-laboratory of multi-disciplinary practice Nature, Art, and Habitat Residency, which has explored themes of woods, rock & stone, and water in previous years.
Participants will stay in the town of Sottochiesa in the Taleggio Valley and involve themselves by contributing to group discussion, going on excursions in the local mountains, forests, and towns, devising and creating work, writing, and thinking.
A recommended reading list will be available in advance of the workshop, and there will be publication and further networking opportunities following the workshop.
AIMS
The intention for your participation at this workshop is for you to have the time, space, and group support to think about your art practice and its ecopoetical themes, and to create work that develops these areas of your practice. The valley has long been a place where humans interact with the non-human for the creation of mutual sustenance. We hope to continue in this tradition, at the same time as going some way to addressing the urgency of the global environmental situation.
COST
The cost of the workshop is €690.00. This covers two weeks accommodation at Soggiorno Mazzoleni in Sottochiesa, workshop facilitation, administration fees, some excursions, and taxes. You will be asked to transfer this amount to the workshop's associated PayPal account in full before your arrival. Food and other travel is to be paid by participants as required. We encourage participants to seek out funding from their education or arts funding institutions.
