The School Census 2007 asks schools to make sure that a child's first language is recorded, to provide an accurate picture of linguistic diversity in schools and also to provide information about an important aspect of each individual child, many of whom are bilingual.
Please let us knowm if your child was brought up to speak a language other than English, and continues to be exposed to this language at home or in the community. If your child uses another language as well as English, we would like to know which language this is.
Some children no longer use their first language, and this means either parents or the child will have to decide which language you would prefer to have recorded.
