A letter from ICOM Israel members and the members of the Art community- addressing the OPEN LETTER FROM THE ART COMMUNITY TO CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS
To World Wide Museum Members and colleagues, Independent Curators, and Artists

We, curators and artists from Israel, are deeply appalled by the letter published in Art Forum on October 19th 2023.

While condemning Israel’s current actions in the Gaza Strip, the letter fails to mention the atrocities that led to Israel’s retaliation.

On October 7th the Hamas conducted a brutal terrorist attack, butchering babies, children, raping and murdering women and burning families in their homes, slaughtering over 1,400 people, and brutally kidnapping over 200. This horrifying attack, described as such in a public statement by leading experts in international law, has nothing to do with the national aspirations of the Palestinian people. We stand against the killing of innocent civilians.

We stand for human rights and for putting an end to all violence.
Hamas is a terrorist organization that endorses the ethics of ISIS and other genocidal movements. Any person with moral integrity must denounce the horrors Hamas committed on October 7th.
We implore the ICOM community and international art scene at large to strongly condemn the cruel massacre executed by Hamas.

The hostages, including children, women, elderly and sick people, are still being held by Hamas. We implore ICOM and the international art community to call for their immediate release. Time is of the essence.
