Live-in Residency Application | XCHC
XCHC is a self-funded creative space in Ōtautahi that offers affordable showcase, production, and residency spaces. Our aim is to attract those developing creative ideas, practices and careers and seek the benefits of doing so alongside other like-minded people.

There is currently an available room in one of our Live-in Residencies (known as The Crossing) located above XCHC. You will be joining two others in a private apartment.

Their are 3 bedrooms, a spacious lounge, balcony, and large attic.
Small room: $150p/w + Expenses
Large room: $175p/w + Expenses

We're open to discussing the length of the residency and how long would it be most valuable to your creative work. We're open to discussing extensions if it continues to feel useful.

It can take time to integrate into new living situations, so our selection process is based on the creative goals the applicant wants to develop over time. This may be through immersing themselves in their creative work, tapping into our network, seeking opportunities, and getting involved in the diversity of activities/events here.

We've worked with hundreds of artists over 9 years, and due to this environment, we feel it's important to be explicit with what we expect:
• Strong references
• Evidence in developing your creative practice
• Getting along / working well with others
• Be tidy (leave the creative mess to the studios)
• Be communicative with other residents and management.
• Keep an open mind to others creative processes/lifestyles and be supportive of these.
