Newberry Library Consortium funding 2023-24

Applications received before Nov. 1, 2023 will have highest likelihood of being funded. You are encouraged to apply for funding before you know whether you have been admitted to the program you wish to attend, as funding is allocated on a rolling basis after that date.

Graduate students attending programs at the Newberry Library and the Folger Library will have priority for funding.

If you are applying to support your attendance at a Newberry or Folger program, be sure to note WHICH ONE and when it will be held.

If you are applying to do archival research (either in conjunction with a Newberry program or alone), explain why access to the Newberry archives is especially useful to you at this time and also note the approximate date by which you need to travel and why this timing matters.

Briefly lay out your budget, estimating costs for travel to the Newberry or costs associated with attendance at a virtual Newberry event.

If traveling to Chicago, please be conservative in estimates, as our funds are very limited. Feel free to provide an "Ideal" budget and another "Make Do With This" budget.
