I want to thank everyone who came out to the School Board meeting
on Wednesday night. A special thanks to those of you who spoke before the board; it can
be intimidating to speak truth to power, so thank you for stepping up. Those of
you who packed the room and the parking lot and waved signs on the street, each
of you helped to amplify the voices of those who did speak before the Board. They
know that we are stronger together and now we are beginning to speak with a unified
voice! I’m excited to see so many Livingston teachers and school employees
coming together.
If you weren’t able to attend the Board meeting, you can still watch it online on YouTube.
I think that we have started to make some progress. It is
clear that Livingston is at a breaking point and action must be taken. The
board has finally heard our concerns, but we cannot stop pushing for what we
deserve. I’m calling for a Livingston Federation of Teachers membership meeting
for Monday afternoon. We can reflect on what has been done so far, and plan our
next steps as a group.
