SATURDAY, MAY 20, 2023  • 1-4 p.m.
Many enslaved African Americans made their way to freedom overland along the Underground Railroad.  Despite the dangerous journey, they found sanctuary and escape routes by decoding messages sewn into quilts.  Children, ages 8-12, will examine how shapes and colors were used in the designs, and enjoy music and story time before creating their own quilt squares.
SUNDAY, MAY 21, 2023    1-4 p.m.
Celebrate African American quilting traditions.  Teens and adults will explore Black history and culture through the lens of quilt making.  Participates will design and carry away their own original quilt square.
