Using the two “How's my waterway?” resources (Linked Below) you will prepare a short 2 minute presentation about the quality of water systems in Nebraska in general, and your immediate community in specific.
Your presentation should include the names of waterway systems in your community, the status of those systems, and the issues that are affecting water quality in your community.
Students will be measured on basic (level 1) explanations, and more thorough (level 2) explanations. Students should be able to answer all of the questions identified in the box to the right. To do so, they will need to include information from both the community and state pages from the “How’s my waterway?” resources.
Level 1 Explanations
Does the student identify specific waterways?
Does the student identify specific issues affecting water quality?
Level 2 Explanations
Does the student explain what is causing issues affecting water quality?
How can we know that the information is reliable?
Students should type or write up their talking points on their presentation that can be handed in and assessed.
