Project TEAL State Lead/Chapter Application
Project TEAL (https://www.projectteal.org/) is a student-led initiative committed to providing young people with the knowledge and tools to become engaged citizens in the democratic process. Through tolerance, engagement, action, and learning, we believe that civic engagement is the key to dismantling the polarization that has come to dominate our geopolitical climate today.

As a State Lead, you would be expected to recruit/manage your own state board in order to efficiently execute Project TEAL's mission in your state. This involves creating/developing full-scale campaigns, hosting educational workshops with our curriculum, meeting with representatives to lobby for increased civic education, and testifying for legislation relevant to Project TEAL's mission (when such opportunities are available). Additionally, you would be expected to advocate for our curriculum to be incorporated in various school districts across your state. This particular responsibility involves researching/compiling comprehensive lists of school districts within your state, and reaching out to the superintendent of each respective district. You would also be expected to recruit and manage a team of school district leads, in order to further promote/expand our cause. In addition to this, you would be expected to spearhead partnerships with state-based organizations to help amplify Project TEAL's impact and overall help with both the education and advocacy aspects of our organization.

If you consistently exemplify your ability to fulfill the above responsibilities with professionalism, dedication, and enthusiasm, you may hold this position until you graduate from high school. Once an applicant is selected for a role, they will be expected to begin immediately.

You must be in grades 9-12 to be selected as a State Lead for Project TEAL. Preferably, you would reside in the state that you are applying to be a State Lead for; however, if you feel that you have strong connections in another state, then you are welcome to apply for the State Lead position in that state. If you possess a passion for civic engagement and youth mobilization, strong leadership ability, and a willingness to put in the time and effort when necessary, this is the role for you.

A State Lead should be able to commit at least 4 to 7 hours per week to this position. We strongly urge you to consider the time, effort, and passion you would be able to dedicate to the role before applying. After submitting this application, you will hear back within a few weeks with a decision concerning your placement on our team.

If there are multiple people interested in being State Leads for a certain area, you are more than welcome to form a Chapter in which you all can work to represent Project TEAL's mission in that State!

Applications are reviewed on a staggered schedule. For this round, applications are due by August 31 at 11:59 EST. If you have any questions, please email executive@projectteal.org
