Every year, hundreds of thousands of students across the globe prepare for the increasing competitive college application cycle. This process, although relatively the same for everyone in theory, looks drastically different for everyone in practice, especially for people of color (POC) and first-generation, low-income (FGLI) students who lack the necessary academic and emotional resources that others are easily able to obtain.
Many of the world's top universities are predominately white institutions (PWIs). As a POC student, it's important to consider the racial and ethnic diversity of a college you plan on applying to/attending. What are the implications of attending a PWI as a POC student?
This year Opportuniteens and Detester Magazine is partnering up to bring you a workshop for POC youth, and a panel
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* Navigating the College Admissions Process: Advice from an Admissions Officer and POC Students
This panel will go through the college admissions process through an intensive presentation as well as focusing on answering questions from the audiences of the event in our event panel in Q&A style. Through this event, the audience will hear about personal experiences, perspectives and stories from POC students and more.
When: Sunday 24th October 1-2 pm EDT via zoom.
