Afrofutures & Animation in Western Sydney Workshop EOI

African animation, and its visions of Afrofutures, is a genre growing in popularity. On our screens at the moment, you can enter the worlds of brand-new sci-fi series ‘IIwájú’ and the anthology ‘Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire’, both streaming on Disney+, while on Netflix ‘Supa Team 4’ builds audiences for its neo-futuristic superhero series.

African animation ushers in a new era of storytelling that reflects the vibrancy and richness of Africa and its culture.

The 2024 Africa Film Fest Australia presents a creative workshop in animation for emerging creatives from the African community. The workshop, facilitated by both the Nigerian-Australian animator, Edi Udo and the Jamaican-Australian Rubeena King, multimedia artist and animator will introduce Western Sydney’s African youth to animation techniques, provide skills development and pathways to employment in the animation and gaming industries in NSW.
