Fitness Instructor Job Description
A Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for delivering high quality fitness classes to Rec Center members using various class styles and formats. Instructors represent the Group Fitness Program in an exemplary manner by having a positive and healthy attitude toward physical activity and by leading participants through a safe, effective, and enjoyable workout. One should possess strong leadership and communication skills and be comfortable teaching in front of a group.
All applicants will be expected to audition and lead a group fitness class before being hired. One should be enthusiastic and have the ability to motivate others. Instructors will be required to provide copies of all current certifications.
Requirements: A Group Fitness Instructor Certification from a nationally recognized organizations such as ACE or AFAA. Specialty certifications are needed to teach Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Group Cycling, Aqua, or any other specialty format of classes. All group fitness instructors must be currently certified in CPR/AED/FA or able to obtain in 30 days. Instructors must attend required regular training and meetings. Instructors are required to provide copies of all current certifications. One must be able to lift at least 30lbs.
