2022 Marc Elrich for County Executive Internship Application
Program Description

About Marc

Marc is a former teacher (17 years), a former at-large County Councilmember (12 years) and the current County Executive. Since his victory in 2018, Marc has made progress in supporting our schools, addressing climate change, increasing transit, improving the business climate and maintaining and improving our quality of life. And, he has done all of that with an equity lens.  During the pandemic, Marc put the public’s safety first and science at the center of all the policies, helping get Montgomery County to the highest vaccination rate in the country for large jurisdictions - and he has made sure that testing and vaccinations are distributed equitably throughout the pandemic. About the internship
Our campaign is seeking high school interns interested in learning about the inner workings of a grassroots campaign and helping to re-elect a progressive champion as Executive of Montgomery County.

This internship is unpaid but can be used for SSL hours if the high school student receives approval before beginning with the campaign. The program will involve training on the basics of voter contact, data management, events, and campaign research. It will also offer exposure to field and campaign strategy under the direction of one of the campaign’s field operatives. Students should leave the program with an understanding of how to make a grassroots campaign successful.Qualified interns may also have the opportunity to participate in our paid canvassing program at $15 per hour.

High school interns will be expected to behave professionally throughout this program, communicate clearly about their availability, and arrive at scheduled shifts on time and with a positive attitude. A willingness to volunteer on weekends and comfort working with groups of people are both a plus. High school interns will also be expected to familiarize themselves with the expectations outlined in the Marc Elrich for County Executive Handbook. To receive SSL hours, high school interns must be focused on campaign work and following through on given priorities during their shifts.

Marc Elrich for County Executive is running a unique internship program to bolster our voter outreach in Montgomery County, as well as get Marc elected as our next County Executive!
