The DIG is open to applicants! We are looking for creative, collaborative educators who are interested in sharing their passion for making and prototyping with the entire SMU community. Students who are already familiar with the tools in the space are preferred, but we will also train the right candidate. Students who qualify for work study are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants should:
- Love teaching other people what you know! Staff members lead orientations, trainings, and workshops throughout the semester.
- Be interested in coaching fellow SMU community members in the pursuit of their own projects. DIG staff members provide training and guidance, but let patrons complete their own projects, not do it for them.
- Be willing to roll up your sleeves, clean up the space, organize tools, and do other general maintenance tasks on a regular basis.
- Be able to commit to working at least 6 hours per week in 2-hour shifts. Shifts can be anywhere between 9am-9pm Monday-Thursday and 9am-5pm on Friday. Please do not apply if have a very busy schedule that does not allow you to be available/flexible for this job.
- Be able to work on a team, work independently, and take initiative.
- Be responsive via Slack and email, and be on time to all shifts and meetings.
