The Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC) is the recipient of Planning District Commission Housing Development Program funds from Virginia Housing to establish affordable workforce housing in the CRC region. The CRC region consists of the Counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward. The CRC held a first round of funding in 2022 and funded $1,559,199.00 in establishing affordable workforce housing units in Charlotte, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward Counties. The CRC held a second round of funding in February 2024 and funded $95,000.00 in establishing an affordable workforce housing unit in Cumberland County. The CRC has a remaining funding of $225,357.46 available to be distributed towards new projects.
The CRC is now seeking funding applications from Experienced Housing Partners to establish affordable workforce housing units in the counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward by June 30, 2025.
Applicants will be scored according to their adherence to Virginia Housing (VH) program guidelines and criteria established by the CRC. Applications that do not meet ALL of the Virginia Housing guidelines and restrictions will not be considered for award. Submitted projects requests must result in
establishing affordable housing units. Projects for pre-development costs
ONLY will not be scored.
Applicants are allowed to submit multiple applications. If you are seeking funds for multiple projects, please submit one application per project.
