CAMELOT Auditions

DIRECTED BY award winning and long time PLT directors STEPHEN C. LOTT and Music Director TOM BAROCO with Choreography by Katelyn Geri.

Lerner and Loewe’s majestic "CAMELOT" brings the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table to life with an extraordinary score and a story that poignantly dramatizes the human conflict at the heart of this classic tale. Based on T.H. White’s novel, "The Once and Future King", "Camelot" tells the story of Arthur, a young squire who becomes King after extracting the sword Excalibur from its legendary rock. This version is imagined as a traveling troupe of eight Revelers who in Story Theatre style play multiple roles use simple props to create the world of Camelot.  

This production will be an adult cast and is intended for our Mainstage audiences.   Do not bring observers or family groups unless all are auditioning.  Please fill out this form for each person auditioning.  We enthusiastically welcome individuals of all genders, races, ethnicities, and abilities to audition for any role they feel drawn to.
 
You may pre-fill your "Mainstage Musical" audition form that you may download through our website, or fill it out when you arrive.  We will read and sing together in the Mainstage Theatre.

Those auditioning for the show will be cast based on several criteria:  (1) singing ability, (2) movement skills,  (3) story-telling, and (4) personality.   Color-inclusive casting. See brief cast descriptions below.  More complete descriptions are available on our website.

Please prepare 24-32 bars (or one verse and one chorus) of a song in musical theatre style. Please use songs from Lerner & Loewe or any other song from a musical that best shows your voice, range and acting ability. You may bring piano sheet music, marked and prepared with your section of the song; accompaniment will be provided. You may also plug into our speaker if you use an .mp3 track or cellphone (karaoke or accompaniment only) . Please download your track rather than rely on the internet connection.

All candidates will also be taught a dance sequence by our choreographer, so please wear dance clothes and shoes that you can move in. No flip flops or sandals, please.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

This is a small cast adaptation. The music is the same, but there is no large anonymous ensemble. Each of the 8 revelers must be able to sing solo and harmonies.

The Lead characters engage in kissing, hand holding and some intense physical touch. Intimacy will be choreographed during the rehearsal process; there will be no intimate touch during auditions.

CALL BACKS may be Wednesday, April 23rd. Please hold this evening available if you are auditioning for a lead. Not everyone will be called back, but we may need to see you a second time for scene work, harmonization, or direct comparison.
