Thanks so much for contributing to this survey to help your fellow shelter leaders and staff navigate what's next for sheltering in our world (or at least our little piece of it)! The focus of this survey is managed admissions and changing practices with regard to community cat and kitten intake because these have emerged as the most common responses when we ask what the biggest game changers have been, but we know there are many other innovations that would ideally be sustained and shared.

We are open for non-emergency admission on an appointment basis only and anticipate sustaining that in the future

We are open for non-emergency admission on an appointment basis only for now but anticipate going to a mixed model of allowing some walk-ins and offering some appointments in the future

We are open for non-emergency admission without an appointment currently but would like to move towards admission by appointment in the future

We do NOT generally admit healthy stray/community cats and are able to provide or refer to external TNR resources

We do NOT generally admit healthy stray/community cats but unfortunately aren't able to provide or refer to external TNR resources

We DO generally admit healthy stray/community cats but spay/neuter and return regardless of temperament (friendly or feral) unless there are special circumstance.

We DO generally admit healthy stray/community cats but spay/neuter and return feral/unsocialized cats unless there are special circumstance.

We DO generally admit healthy stray/community cats and do not spay/neuter and return (instead we adopt, transfer, RTO, relocate or euthanize)

Let's do this one more time with under-age kittens! What best describes your shelter's current policy with regard to intake of healthy kittens (too young for adoption) found by community members? Again, general policy recognizing there may be exceptions.

We do NOT generally admit healthy found kittens and are able to provide resources to finders to assist in kitten raising

We do NOT generally admit healthy found kittens but unfortunately aren't able to provide or refer to external TNR resources

We DO generally admit healthy found kittens and have ample foster homes or other resources to keep them out of the shelter

We DO generally admit healthy found kittens and it's a struggle as we don't have enough foster homes or nursery resources to comfortably care for them all.
