Overview: The Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) has awarded funds to C-TEC of Licking County to provide need-based financial aid for C-TEC students who are enrolled in short-term training programs. These last-dollar grants are for programs that can be completed in less than one year (or fewer than 900 clock hours) and culminate in the student earning an industry-recognized credential, license, or a C-TEC certificate of completion. Grant amounts may not exceed $4,000 per student per fiscal year. Grants may only be used to cover program tuition and fees and will be applied directly to the student’s account.
Eligibility: C-TEC students who are enrolled in an approved short-term occupational training program (less than 900 clock hours) that has a start date between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024 (see list of eligible programs in the grant FAQ section).
Grants are need-based and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and while funding is available.
The student must also meet or agree to the following requirements:
1.
The student has financial need and is currently unemployed or underemployed.
2.
The student is a U.S. Citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
3.
The student has a valid Social Security Number.
4.
The student is actively enrolled in an eligible short-term training program with a start date between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
5. Any male applicant must be registered for selective service.
6. The grant is considered a “last dollar grant” and may be applied to the student’s account only after other funding sources such as internal/external scholarships, OMJ, or other grants have been applied to the cost of the program.
7. The student understands that the C-TEC training program requires a 90% attendance rate and at least a 70% (2.0) grade point average. Failure to maintain the 90% attendance rate or the minimum grades throughout the program could result in a loss of grant support and the student will be financially responsible for the cost of the program. Any current student who began after July 1 must be maintaining SAP at time of application.
8. The student must commit the necessary time and dedication to the program to successfully complete the program. The student must comply with the student code of conduct as stated in the C-TEC Adult Student Catalog. Students who withdraw or fail to attend class may be financially responsible for the cost of the program.
9. The student understands that taking and passing the Work Keys testing is a pre-requisite of program enrollment and the $60 testing fee must be paid prior to enrollment. Passing test scores are determined by the program curriculum and are identified in the Adult Student Catalog.
10. In order for the student to be considered for an additional grant award, the student must have successfully completed the first funded course/module and earn the associated certificate and/or industry certification.
