PRSSS Playing Card Fact Collection
The Pacific Regional Society of Soil Science is making a custom deck of playing cards with different fun soil facts on each card. Help us share our love and knowledge of soils by submitting your favourite soil fact! Your submission enters you into a draw for a free card deck! (Make sure to include your name and email if you want to be entered into the draw!)

The deadline for contributions is Monday January 20th, 2019.

Example facts:

Every teaspoon of soil has more microorganisms than there are people on earth.

The rate of topsoil formation can vary from <0.25 mm/year in dry and cold environments to 1.5 mm/year in humid and warm environments. Topsoil formation at the rate of 1 mm/year is equivalent to an annual addition of 12 t/ha.

Note: if you find your fact from a source (e.g. journal article, textbook, website), please rephrase it in your own words!
