RHUL Transition Fund Application Form
General Information
The LGBT+ Society and LGBT+ SU Officer at Royal Holloway University have set up a mutual aid transition fund to help Transgender members of the LGBT Society at RHUL fund for private healthcare costs no matter it be Hormone Replacement Therapy, Gender Affirming Surgery, Voice Training, etc.
Money for this fund is raised through fundraisers the LGBT+ Society create and through the "RHUL Transition Fund Donation" button on our SU Web-page, which can be found here: LGBT SOC WEBPAGE

Who can apply for the fund
In order to be eligible for this fund you must:
  • Currently be a Royal Holloway student.
  • Identify as Transgender.
  • Have a public GoFundMe page set up that we can donate to.
  • Have a membership for the LGBT+ Society at Royal Holloway.
How will the money be distributed to those who apply
The inner workings of how much each person will get depends on how much money is raised from donations given to us from fundraisers and the donation button on our SU web-page, but this is how it will work:
  1. Donating to the fund starts at the beginning of term.
  2. You apply to receive some of the fund through this application form at any point before the end of the term ends.
  3. Once the term has ended, the money raised that term will be split evenly and donated to each individuals' "GoFundMe's" (so you will be waiting until term is over for the money).
So for example if we raise £300 in one term, and 5 people apply for the fund, at the end of the term each individual will receive £60 donated directly to their GoFundMe page.

Depending on how many people apply and how many donations we get, there may be a cap put on how much individuals may receive in order for the dividing of donations to be fair for all. This fund is ongoing and so people who apply for one term may also receive another donation in another term if they did not reach the 'donation cap' in the original term they applied for.

So for example, if the donation cap was £100 and you applied in term 1 and received £50 by the end of term 1, your name/GoFundMe will still be eligible for another donation to reach the cap in term 2, so you could still receive another donation from us in term 2, etc.

If you have any questions or concerns about the fund/applying please email us: LGBT@RoyalHolloway.su

Please be aware this is the beginning of this project and so we may need to fine tune more things in the future, but if anything changes we will get in contact with those who apply ASAP!

Your Transgender identity and/or GoFundMe Page will not be shared publicly to anyone aside from the LGBT+ Society Committee and the Students' Union. All of your information will remain private, no one aside from those stated above will know who has applied for the fund so requesting to be part of this fund will not directly 'out' you.
The "GoFundMe" page you set up for yourself is owned and navigated by yourself and 'GoFundMe' and so any personal information you give out on that is your own responsibility, not the Student Union's.

If you need help setting up a GoFundMe, please email us at: LGBT@RoyalHolloway.su and we can provide sources to help. If you need information on how to start transitioning privately please also email us and we can send you documents we created with step - by - step instructions on how to get started.
