Summer Academy 2022 Registration
ConVal High School is proud to offer Summer Academy again! ย We are offering graduation requirement courses with a focus on hands-on, project-based assignments. ย Classes are free and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Here are the logistics:
๐‘Šโ„Ž๐‘œ: ย Students who had academic challenges during the school year or who want to get a head start on the upcoming school year.
๐‘Šโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘’: CVHS
๐‘Šโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘›: ย July 5 - August 4, 2022; Session 1 will run from 8-10 AM, and Session 2 will run from 10:15 AM-12:15 PM. ย Summer Boost will run Monday-Thursday, with the exception of the first week, which will start on a Tuesday.
๐ป๐‘œ๐‘ค: Transportation will be provided. ย Students will register for one or two sessions based on their needs. ย Buses will arrive prior to Session 1 and will depart after Session 2; there will be no mid-morning bus run.

*Students who failed a class during school year 2021-2022 will have the opportunity to earn a full credit if they retake the class during Summer Academy. ย Prior to the summer session starting, teachers will review what priority standards the student met during the school year so that summer work can focus on meeting the remaining standards. ย Per the CVHS 2022-23 Program of Studies, โ€œIf a student is completing specific coursework to improve a grade, they will work with the content teacher and the school counselor to develop a plan and a timeline for completion. Typically, credit recovery is assessed on a pass/fail basis.โ€

*Students who would like to earn a better grade than they did during the school year may retake the class. ย As stated in the Program of Studies. "If a student is retaking a class to improve a grade, the new grade will show on the transcript and be figured into the GPA calculation. The old grade will also remain on the transcript, however, the point value will not be figured. Students typically only earn one credit for a repeated class."

*Students who are taking a class for the first time may also earn a credit. ย Students taking the theater course will be required to do work prior to the summer session (auditions, learning their roles, etc.) and will therefore earn a full credit. ย Students in other classes may also earn a credit if all of the priority standards are met. ย The Summer Academy teacher will communicate with the student and family regarding the studentโ€™s progress toward earning a credit. ย If the student does not meet all of the priority standards, no credit will be awarded. ย Students may also elect to take a class to preview material before the school year 2022-2023 or as non-credit enrichment.
