Thank you for your interest in the Tejas Star Reading List!

2024-25 Tejas Star Reading List suggestions are accepted through December 1, 2023. All physical copies of suggested titles received after December 1, 2023 will be considered for the 2025-26 TSRL. Students, librarians, parents, teachers, or any interested person can suggest a book title.  

Selection Criteria
• To be eligible for inclusion in the 2024-2025 list, the books must have been published within the current year or within the previous two years (2023, 2022, 2021).
• Titles shall reflect a variety of reading levels for readers ages 5-12.
• The book must be authentic in portraying the Hispanic/Latino culture, if applicable.
• The book must be written in Spanish/English bilingual format or in Spanish. Spanish translations of books originally written in English are eligible for consideration, except newer or revised translations of older books.
If the title was originally published in English, we please ask that each committee member is able to receive a copy of the English title along with the Spanish title so that we are able to review the quality of the translation.
• The book must be of high literary quality and have wide appeal.
• If the book is published outside the U.S., the book must be of interest to children in Texas schools.
