Interested in participating in U-FIT this academic year?
Due to the pandemic, U-FIT programming will be offered in a modified format to accommodate health and safety concerns. Please fill out this survey to help U-FIT staff understand the needs and comfort levels of our families and participants. Your responses will help us determine what types of content to provide as well as the delivery method for U-FIT. We appreciate your involvement and patience as we navigate this uncertain time. Nonetheless, we are excited to provide a modified U-FIT program and look forward to engaging with the community!
We are still working on program specifics, but during the Fall 2020 semester, we tentatively plan to offer access to video clips of exercises/activities that can be done at home. We also are planning to provide several live informational sessions from special education faculty, where participants and families can ask questions over Zoom video conferencing. Then based on survey responses and future Utah State Health Recommendations, the Spring 2021 semester will consist of interactive programming where we will pair participants with university student volunteers to work on enrichment activities (i.e motor, social, arts and crafts, dance, etc.) via direct Zoom video conferencing.
As of now, we are planning to maintain the traditional U-FIT Friday 6-8pm program schedule for routine and continuity. However, individualizing U-FIT program session schedules based on family and volunteer availability may be possible. Lastly, there will be no tuition cost for U-FIT participants this calendar year, but donations to the U-FIT program to assist families in covering the cost of future participants are welcome and greatly appreciated.
