Join Nonpartisan Nebraska as we launch a statewide campaign to keep our Unicameral nonpartisan!

The meeting will be held on Zoom on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. (CT). The theme will be "Nonpartisanship: What Does It Mean?" Presenting will be UNL Journalism professor and author of “One House,” Charlyne Berens. Featured as a panel will be Sen. Sue Crawford and Sen. John McCollister, as well as Fm. Speaker of the Legislature Galen Hadley, and Fm. Sen. Kathy Campbell.

Nonpartisan Nebraska is a new nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and expanding Nebraska's unique history of nonpartisan government. For over 80 years lawmakers have been elected to the Unicameral through nonpartisan elections and, once in office, have not organized based on party. There are no majority or minority leaders and the Speaker and committee chairs are elected by ballot on the floor (rather than in closed caucus meetings). Senators are expected to put partisanship aside and consider issues on a case-by-case basis.

This meeting will explore what "nonpartisanship" means, how we plan to keep it alive and well, and feature our statewide effort to build support for a healthier Nebraska Legislature.
