Plymouth Meeting, PA ~ Volunteer Interest Form
This project is all about helping the elders in our community during this pandemic.
Residents will be appreciative of the time and effort you put into your pieces!
You can write a letter to a resident, create any sort of artwork, or both!
Some of the nursing homes we reach out to give us a list of names of their residents, so if you decide to write a letter or make art, wait for the PlymouthMeeting team to contact you your assigned elder :)
Please wait for us to reach out first and make sure to put your name so we will know who it is from!

Simple letter ideas:
•introduce yourself!
•ask questions about their life to get them thinking & tie it in with info about your life.
--> ex: my favorite food is pizza, what is yours?
• discuss your interests (music, sports) & ask for theirs.
• talk about your family members, ask about theirs.
--> (when we say ask for theirs, they aren’t able to write back so it’s more just to get their mind stimulated and thinking. So for example you could be like “I really love playing soccer and I practice all the time. Is there something you are really passionate about?)
•let them know they are loved and their family misses them.
•tell them we are thinking of them and they will get through this tough time.
•just write from your heart like it’s your grandma and you miss them too!

***please don't include anything about religion, politics, and other sensitive topics.***

Art ideas:
Literally anything! The smallest things get these oldies happy because they don’t get to see much art. Even a rainbow would brighten their day :D

Where are you from? (City, State) *
How many letters do you want to write?  Please state an exact amount. (disclaimer: the maximum number of letters you can write WITH ART is 5.  If you're writing letters WITHOUT ART, then you can write up to a maximum of 10 letters. If you're not writing letters and only submitting art, put "N/A".) *
DISCLAIMER!
When we say 5 letters with ART, this means that you cannot do any separate art pieces. The highest amount of hours per round a volunteer can get is 5 hours. So, if you do 5 art pieces, you cannot do any letters. If you want to do both art and letters, you have to calculate the amount of hours you want to get before you go forward and choose. Any questions about this? Feel free to email us, we understand that this might be confusing!
How many art pieces do you want to make? (disclaimer: you can only make up to 5 INTRICATE art pieces maximum for each round. 5 intricate art pieces = 5 volunteer service hours. If you choose to make 5 intricate art pieces, you cannot make ANY letters. Each art piece is worth 1 hour, the maximum amount of hours you can earn per round is 5. If you would like to do both letters (with ART) and art pieces, you can split them. For example, 3 art pieces and 2 letters WITH ART. If you would prefer to do art and letters WITHOUT ART, an example of a split would be: 4 letters without art and 3 art pieces. Each individual letter made WITHOUT ART = 30 minutes --if you're not making art, put "N/A".) Please specify if it would be with the letters or separate! *
Would you like to drop off, or submit art and letters digitally? (drop off is strongly encouraged, submitting digitally would be to the last resort.) *
For drop off- here are the addresses we are collecting letters/art. You can choose whichever one is most convenient for you.

For virtual submissions (letting people hand write your note is encouraged- handwritten notes are more personal and meaningful!)

How long will your art/letter making process take? JOIN THE GOOGLE CLASSROOM TO SEE WHEN EACH ROUND STARTS AND ENDS! EMAIL CHAPTER HEAD FERRA LIU FOR THE CODE! (Each round should be about 1 month, we will announce beforehand so all volunteers will know) *
Can you send this link to other friends you think might be interested? *
Wait for us to reach out to you directly before you start writing/drawing!
This is because some facilities are giving us information about the residents we are writing to. We may be able to provide you with a name and interests of someone which will make the letter more personal and meaningful.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to do this! Make sure to mark your letter/artwork with your name (if you don't want to write your name directly on it, you can attach a post it note with your name on it when dropping it off). This is to ensure we have collected all of the letters and we know whose letters we are missing. We highly suggest the letter is in an envelope, not sealed.
We will reach out to you through email/text for more details and information :)
Disclaimer: This chapter does not guarantee that associations like National Honor Society, Model UN, etc. will accept these as service hours under their requirements. Please check with your school to see whether or not they are accepted. Any additional questions overall?
