Presbytery leadership wants to hear from you, as we plan for learning and relational opportunities in this coming year. Please respond to the following five questions by September 30, 2023.

1. We may organize some activities or facilitated small groups on specific topics with other interested Presbytery members. Which topics would be of most interest to you? PLEASE CHOOSE UP TO THREE. *

A conversation for Whites only about issues of race and resisting racism

Small groups using Belong Circles curriculum or Elaine Enns’ “Healing Haunted Histories: A Settler Discipleship of Decolonization” to share our own cultural histories and perspectives with each other

Nuts and bolts on anti-racism activism in the church and community

Learning from indigenous neighbors about restoring the native environment

Racism and place: redlining, intergenerational wealth/poverty and affordable housing, environmental racism

Intersectionality: impact of multiple identities of race, gender, sexuality, and class.

2. The Intercultural Development Inventory is a well-tested, widely used tool for individuals and groups to learn about cultural awareness and how to appreciate and use the gifts of all people. The survey takes about half an hour, and you can receive a confidential consultation based on your personal assessment. Would you be interested in participating in this survey?

3. We are planning to hold at least one guided virtual trip in the next 8 months to our border with Mexico, to learn more about people seeking asylum in the USA, and to interact with mission groups on the border advocating for justice for immigrants. Each trip is limited to 18 committed participants and each week there is a 1½ to 2½-hour Zoom commitment. The cost is estimated to be $100 per person. Would you be interested in participating in this virtual border trip?

4. We are also planning to hold another physical trip to the border. This would entail meeting in San Diego and spending about 4 days in Tijuana, and one day in San Diego. The cost would be around $600. Would you be interested in joining this trip?
